Trick or Treat
Race down the haunted street.
Roll the die and race to the front door of the haunted house. Treat squares pay out candy, bonus squares roll again, and trick squares send you back.
How to play
- 1Everyone starts off the street. Take turns rolling the die and moving that many squares.
- 2Treat squares give you a piece of candy.
- 3Bonus squares let you roll again straight away.
- 4Trick squares send you back three squares.
- 5Reach the front door (square 30) first to win. If you roll too high you bounce back off the door.
How to play Trick or Treat online
Trick or Treat is a roll-and-move race down a haunted street. You roll one die, step that many squares, and see what the street has in store: candy, a bonus roll or a trick that sends you back. The first to the front door wins.
It's simple enough for young children and quick enough for a family game night. Create a room, share the code, and play on any phone or laptop. Two to six people can play, and computer players can fill empty seats.
Candy doesn't decide who wins, but it counts for the final standings, so it's a tiebreaker as well as a bit of fun.
Trick or Treat rules in full
- The street has 30 squares. Everyone starts just before square 1.
- On your turn, roll the die and move that many squares.
- Treat squares (there are seven) give you one piece of candy.
- Bonus squares (there are two) let you roll again straight away.
- Trick squares (there are six) send you back three squares. None of them lead onto another special square.
- Reach the front door on square 30 to win. You don't need an exact roll: if you'd go past it, you bounce back by the extra steps, and nothing triggers on the bounce.
- The final standings go by who got home, then how far everyone got, then candy.
Tips for winning at Trick or Treat
- There are no choices to make, so the fun is in the rolls. Cheer for the bonus squares.
- Tricks hurt most near the end of the street. Square 28 sends you back to 25.
- You win by landing on square 30 exactly. Bigger rolls bounce you back, so the last few squares can take a few turns.
- Play it with kids who can't read yet: the squares are colour coded and have pictures.

- Candy doesn't win the game, but it's shown in the standings and breaks ties between players who finish on the same square.
- How long does a game take?
- About five to twelve minutes.
