How to play Bomb Pass online

Bomb Pass is hot potato for phones. A bomb travels around the circle, everyone taps PASS to hand it to the next person, and at some hidden moment it goes off in the hands of whoever's holding it.

Create a room and share the code. It needs at least three players and takes up to twenty, which makes it one of the few games that gets better as the room fills up. Each round lasts 15 to 45 seconds, so eliminated players aren't left waiting long, and the last one standing wins.

It's all taps, so it works in a noisy room, a Discord call or a classroom with nothing else to set up.

Bomb Pass rules in full

  • The bomb moves to the next player in the circle, in order. You can't choose who gets it.
  • You have to hold it for at least one second before you pass.
  • The fuse is random, between 15 and 45 seconds each round. It's never sent to any player's device, and the on-screen pulsing doesn't reflect it.
  • The player holding the bomb when it explodes is out and becomes a spectator. A new round starts with a fresh hidden fuse.
  • Last player standing wins. If the player holding the bomb disconnects, it's passed on immediately so the game never gets stuck.

Tips for winning at Bomb Pass

  • Pass as soon as the one-second hold ends. There's no upside to holding it.
  • The fuse is random, so 'it must be about to blow' is never true. Don't try to count.
  • Don't bother tapping the instant you receive it. The game makes you hold the bomb for a second anyway.
  • In a big circle, being far from the bomb isn't safe. It can come round more than once in a round.
