Pumpkin Patch

Match the pairs. Beware the curse.

Memory Match with a Halloween deck. Flip two cards at a time to find pairs of pumpkins, bats and ghosts — but one pair is cursed and will cost you a point.

How to play

  1. 1Sixteen cards lie face down: eight pairs of Halloween pictures.
  2. 2On your turn flip two cards. A pair stays up and scores a point, and you go again.
  3. 3No match? The cards flip back and the next player goes.
  4. 4One pair is cursed. Matching it costs you a point (you can't go below zero) and ends your turn.
  5. 5When every card is gone, the most points wins.

How to play Pumpkin Patch online

Pumpkin Patch is a Halloween memory game. Sixteen cards lie face down — pumpkins, ghosts, bats, skulls, candy, witch hats, spiders — and you take turns flipping two at a time to find the pairs.

There's a catch. One of the eight pairs is cursed. Whoever matches the cursed pair loses a point and their turn, so a lucky guess isn't always a good one.

Create a room, share the code or link, and play on phones or laptops with no sign-up. Up to six players can join, and the host can add computer players to fill the table.

Pumpkin Patch rules in full

  • Sixteen cards make eight pairs. The positions are shuffled every game.
  • On your turn flip two cards. If they match, the pair stays face up, you score a point and you go again.
  • If they don't match, the cards turn back over after a moment and the next player goes.
  • The cursed pair is the one with the eye on it. Matching it costs you one point (your score can't drop below zero) and ends your turn.
  • The game ends when every card has been matched. The most points wins; equal scores share the place.

Tips for winning at Pumpkin Patch

  • Watch what other players flip as well as your own cards. Remembering their misses is how you win.
  • Once you've found both eyes, leave them alone until nothing else is left.
  • Never flip a known eye as your first card. The second card could be its twin.
  • Late in the game, an accidental curse can swing the score, so count how many cards are left.
